Faith and Social Justice, B.A.

This major prepares students to make an impact in a wide variety of fields that call for leadership with integrity and value. The major provides the student with academic and practical experiences in ethics formation and application.

BELL Core Requirements: 53 Hours (minimum)


Prerequisites for Religion Major: 6 Hours


Students who choose a religion minor must substitute required courses in their minor with a course from the same subject area. In other words, a single course may not count for both major and minor requirements.

Major Requirements: 30 Hours


Area Emphasis


(pick ONE Track Area)

Advocacy and Activism Track: 21 Hours


Students must select a minor from one of the following areas of study: Social Justice, Sociology, Political Science, Communication Studies, or Journalism.

Policy and Development Track: 21 Hours


Students must select a minor from one of the following areas of study: Social Justice, Political Science, Environmental Science, or Entrepreneurship.

Missions and Ministry Track: 21 Hours


Students must select a minor from one of the following areas of study: Sociology-Cultural Studies, Communication Studies, Entrepreneurship, or Christian Leadership.

Minor Requirements: 18 Hours


General Electives: 21 Hours (minimum)


Total Required for the Program: 128 Hours


2 REL 2350 Christian Doctrine  is a prerequisite for the following: REL 2410 Spiritual Formation ; REL 2510 Christian Ethics ; all courses in Religion and Society division, in the Theological and Historical Division, and Biblical Studies Division.

3 Students take REL 4015  in the fall semester before the anticipated date of graduation.

5 Praxis courses are taken at partner institutions while the student is fulfilling external study requirements. They will complement the concentration track requirements and provide the student with broader access to various skill sets.
