The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Animation & Media Arts prepares students to create compelling visual stories for film, television, interactive and immersive media, and emerging platforms. Offered jointly by the Watkins College of Art and the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business, the program blends studio practice, storytelling, digital visualization, real-time/virtual production, and professional preparation. The curriculum emphasizes transferable skills across multiple creative disciplines, while allowing focus through the selection of an emphasis. The program fosters creative problem solving, design thinking, collaboration, critique, professional communication, and real-world experience. Students graduate with a portfolio and a reel aligned with their individual career goals.

Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core Requirements or as General Electives. Required in Major: 81 Hours
Major Core Requirements: 51 Hours
Art, Design, Animation History Courses: 9 Hours
Select three (3) courses from the following: Emphasis Requirement: 15 Hours
Select one emphasis track: Illustration & Art Direction
Storytelling & Production
Major Electives: 6 Hours
Choose courses from the following prefixes: ANM, ART, DES, ETM, MDS, MOT, or ADH. General Electives: 9 Hours (minimum)
Total Required for the Program: 128 Hours
