The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Architectural Studies is a four-year, studio-centered degree designed to cultivate creative leadership, design excellence, and interdisciplinary fluency within the built environment. The curriculum advances students from foundational spatial exploration through integrated architectural and urban-scale inquiry, emphasizing contextual responsiveness, environmental awareness, and human-centered problem solving.
Students complete six progressive design studios supported by coursework in history and theory, structures, environmental systems, materials, and digital fluency. The program develops strong visual communication skills, systems literacy, and the ability to synthesize cultural, social, and environmental considerations into meaningful design solutions.
The B.F.A. offers a flexible and professionally relevant pathway for students pursuing careers across design-related fields-including architecture, urban design, creative industries, and related disciplines-or those planning to continue into graduate study. By providing a rigorous four-year design education, the program expands access, supports diverse professional trajectories, and promotes timely degree completion while maintaining the depth and integrity of Belmont’s architectural curriculum.
Unlike the NAAB-accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree, the B.F.A. does not satisfy the educational requirements for architectural licensure but serves as a strong foundation for advanced professional or academic pursuits.
