International Business Concentration: 21 Hours

Course Requirements
International Experience is required. The International Experience Requirement is a technical requirement for all students pursuing the International Business (INB) concentration. Belmont University places a high emphasis on study abroad and study away as primary ways to fulfill this requirement. However, recognizing the diverse paths through which students gain global exposure, students may also meet this requirement through alternative international experiences. Ways to Fulfill the International Experience Requirement Students must complete a minimum of 2 weeks in a foreign country or an approved destination and earn at least 3 academic credits through one of the following: Study Abroad or Study Away: - A semester at an approved foreign university with at least 3 credits.
- A summer or short-term program (minimum two weeks) abroad or in an approved domestic destination with at least 3 credits.
- A professional internship abroad (minimum two weeks) approved by Belmont University.
Alternative International Experience Options: - An internship in a multinational enterprise (MNE) within the U.S. with a strong international focus.
- An internship in a U.S. or foreign company in a foreign country with an international scope.
- Extended living or working abroad in an international business setting.
- Service abroad experiences, such as the Peace Corps or similar globally focused programs.
- Military service abroad with an international engagement component.
Waivers and Exceptions The Chair of the Management Department may waive the International Experience Requirement in the following cases: - International students.
- Students who graduated from high school abroad.
- Students who spent at least one year of high school abroad.
- Students with verified significant volunteer or service experiences abroad (e.g., Peace Corps).
- Students with military service abroad experience.
- Other significant overseas experiences may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Chair.
Foundational Courses (6 Hours):
These two foundational courses equip students with the strategic thinking and cultural intelligence needed to lead effectively in a global business environment. Students will explore how to navigate foreign market entry, international competition, and multicultural teams. This core ensures that all International Business majors graduate with the critical skills and mindsets aligned with the best global practices and Belmont’s mission to prepare principled, globally engaged leaders.
