Curricular Plan for the Master of Accountancy (M.ACC.)
The M.ACC. degree program is designed to prepare graduates for a career as a professional accountant, whether in the public accounting, industry, government or nonprofit environment. In addition, the degree fulfills education requirements mandated under the Tennessee law that requires 150 hours of postsecondary coursework for candidates to qualify for CPA licensure.
Master of Accountancy Curriculum
The M.ACC. is 30 hours in total. The curriculum includes three components: required professional practice core classes, a choice of one of four concentrations and breadth elements. The student’s advisor must approve any changes to the program of study.
Completion Schedule
The program is designed with flexibility to accomodate the scheduling needs of students. The program can be completed in one year (three semesters). Students may take as long as three years (nine semesters) to finish all requirements.

Electives: 9 hours
Electives may be chosen from Accounting courses from other concentrations than the one chosen by a student, or MBA classes for which the student meets the prerequisite requirements. For example, a student planning to start her career in internal audit with a healthcare company might select the Healthcare Technology and Analytics class from the Healthcare MBA program.
SAI students must take the Accounting Information Systems class as one elective and may use other electives to take core business classes such as Finance and Marketing.
