This Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) student teaching program is designed to prepare ambitious individuals for rewarding careers as highly-effective educators in K-5 classrooms. It offers a comprehensive blend of rigorous academic coursework, intensive pedagogical training, and valuable hands-on teaching experience through student teaching placements. In addition to earning a master’s degree, candidates meet the performance standards of the TN Elementary (K-5) teacher license.

Professional Core: 9 Hours
Curriculum and Instruction Courses: 18 Hours
Clinical Practice: 6 Hours
Additional Course: PK-3 License and Certification
(required for Early Childhood licensure)
For those in PK-3 there is one additional course required for Early Childhood PK-3 licensure. This is not part of the major, but a technical requirement for licensure in ECE PK-3
