The Psychiatry Clerkship immerses students in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric disorders across inpatient and outpatient settings. Students will develop skills in psychiatric interviewing, mental status examinations, and treatment planning, including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. The clerkship takes place in HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Division, providing exposure to diverse psychiatric conditions. Students will work within multidisciplinary teams, refine communication skills, and navigate ethical considerations in mental health care. By the end of the rotation, students will demonstrate competency in assessing psychiatric conditions, formulating differential diagnoses, and developing individualized treatment plans, preparing them for any medical specialty.
