The Surgery Clerkship provides students with hands-on experience in the evaluation, management, and operative care of surgical patients. Students will develop skills in preoperative assessment, intraoperative participation, and postoperative management. The clerkship takes place in HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Division, exposing students to a variety of general and specialty surgical cases. Working alongside surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, students will refine their ability to interpret diagnostic tests, assist in procedures, and provide perioperative care. By the end of the rotation, students will demonstrate competency in surgical decision-making, technical skills, and patient-centered communication in both operative and clinical settings.
