PHM 6125 Immunology and Infectious Diseases 4 Hours
This course is designed to give the student pharmacist a strong foundational knowledge of immunology, microbiology, antimicrobial medications, and their proper use in various infectious conditions. An emphasis will be placed on linking specific microorganisms with their corresponding disease states. The mechanisms of action and pharmacodynamic properties of antibiotics will be evaluated in the context of their biological functions and uses in infections. The clinical approaches to proper antibiotic choice for a given pathogen will be highlighted.
