EDL 6999 Strategic Leadership in Dissertation

The PhD Dissertation will demonstrate that the graduate can design, conduct, and interpret research and theory about important issues and problems. Doctoral-level research must be an original contribution and enhance educational policy and/or practice. The dissertation proposal must be a substantive, carefully designed, research-based document. The key elements of a dissertation include an introduction that states the problem to be addressed; the significance of the problem; a brief description of how the study will be approached; the literature that will be reviewed; the research question(s) to be answered or the hypothesis to be to be proven or disproven; a thorough discussion of the literature on the subject; the methodology designed for the study; and a discussion of the results including statistical analysis.  The conclusion is a reflection of the results and the significance to further research or practice.
The candidate will complete a research-based study in writing and will defend the dissertation for committee signatures of approval.  Grade is pass/fail. May be repeated up to a maximum of 9 credit hours.
