NUR 5140 Advanced Pharmacology 4 Hours
Prerequisites: NUR 5010 Â
Prescribing legend drugs and advising patients and their families on the range of available nonprescription agents are important responsibilities for the family nurse practitioner. This course provides content on the pharmacologic effects of and clinical indications for the use of selected drug groups, both prescribed and over the counter. Emphasis is placed on contraindications, side effects, drug interactions, and patient education to assist the primary care nurse practitioner to make appropriate choices in clinical management and to evaluate those choices in the care of individual patients. It is assumed that all students have successfully completed an undergraduate pharmacology course.
