EDU 5020 Foundations of Literacy

This course focuses on theories and methods of literacy development and instruction from prekindergarten through grade 6. The components of effective classroom literacy programs are explored through readings, modeling, and hands-on experiences. Current research-based strategies, materials, assessments, remediation, and culturally responsive pedagogy are emphasized. (Approximately 20 hours of practicum are required, which may be within the scheduled time of class)
