This course (SSFH) forms students in the virtuous practice of whole-person medicine toward diverse populations. The Discovery component trains students in multi-dimensional ways of knowing, including biostatistics and research methodology. The Wisdom component shapes students in spiritual and ethical discernment attending to societal issues via the HEALER (Health Equity, Advocacy, Literacy, Education, anti-Racism) thread. The Health Systems Science component imparts awareness of structures and drivers that influence healthcare delivery. Through experiential learning, SSFH thoughtfully interweaves wonder and wisdom to cultivate physician-student readiness for dynamic participation in the complex ecosystem of healthcare as future change-agents, seeking healing and justice for all.
