SWK 5600 Social Work Practice II: Groups, Organizations, and Communities


3 Hours

This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work effectively with diverse groups and communities in a variety of settings. The course will cover group work theories and interventions, as well as social justice principles for community organizing. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the impact of systems of oppression and discrimination on groups and communities and learning how to address these issues in organizational practice settings. Students will develop skills in culturally responsive practice, including understanding and valuing the unique perspectives and experiences of group members and community members.
