Return to: Adult Degree Programs
The Chemical and Biological Health Studies (CBHS) major is aimed at adult learners who are interested in pursuing graduate health professions programs. This program provides students with a background across chemistry and biology, specifically aiming to give students the opportunity to take the relevant prerequisite classes for their future graduate application. Beyond defining required courses and electives for personalization, the CBHS Program will also provide students access to the wealth of Pre-Health support provided for our traditional undergraduate students.
This program is for students who may or may not have previously completed a Bachelors degree. As such, the program is offered as either a BA or BS degree to meet catalog requirements for second-degree-seekers.
Students will meet with a mentor through the Adult Degree Programs , the Chemistry Department, and the Pre-Health Advisor to develop a final plan of study based on the student’s previous coursework and long-term goals. Each student is personally responsible for completing all requirements established for the program, including required pre-requisite courses.1
1Upon entry, students must meet the general Chemistry requirements. General Chemistry requires: Minimum Math ACT > 24 or SAT > 560, RSAT > 560 or enrollment in MTH 1110 (College Algebra) or equivalent, or completion of MTH 1110 or equivalent with a grade of C- or better, or Math Placement test score of 24 or greater.
