Return to: O’More College of Architecture and Design
The Interior Design Studies Minor program for Architecture Major students provides an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach encouraged by accrediting bodies and professional practitioners to reinforce content delivered by the major through a specialized lens. Students in this minor program integrate in the classroom with interior design students and faculty. Core concepts reemphasized for students in the minor program include essential communication skills, design technologies, critical and systems-thinking tools, and creative problem-solving. They will learn to approach designing through an empathetic lens, considerate of the diverse users of the built environments, not only to accommodate, but to elevate the human experience within those spaces. They will utilize evidence-based design approaches for more sustainable, equitable, and meaningful designs that have the capacity to transform. Elective credit options within the Interior Design Studies Minor program allow for architecture students to choose areas of interest and emphasis to differentiate their portfolio for pursuit of entry-level professional positions.
