The Piano Pedagogy Major prepares students for teaching in the private studio. Emphasis is placed on instructional techniques applicable to teaching students at all levels. This degree is appropriate preparation for private studio teaching and for graduate study in piano pedagogy.

BELL Core Requirements: 38 Hours (minimum)
Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core Requirements. Major Core Requirements: 18 Hours
Class Piano: 4 Hours
Note: This requirement waived and four (4) hours added to general electives for piano/keyboard principals only. Ensembles: 6 Hours

All music majors must enroll in at least one for-credit ensemble during each semester of study, even if minimum degree requirements for ensembles have been met. Piano Pedagogy Major: 33 Hours
Other Required Music Courses: 2 Hours
Piano Pedagogy Applied Performance Studies: 21 Hours
Applied: 16 Hours
- MPA 2203 Applied Classical Piano 2 hours (4 semesters)
- MPA 4203 Applied Classical Piano 2 hours (4 semesters)
- MPR 3003 Half Recital 0 hours
Ensembles: 2 Hours
