BELL Core Requirements: 53 Hours (minimum)
Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core or as General Electives. Major Requirements: 32-38 Hours
Major Electives*: 9 Hours
*Students choosing the Cybersecurity Concentration do not take Major Electives; the concentration’s 15 credit hours fulfill this requirement. Students not selecting the concentration must complete 9 hours of Major Electives. Choose 9 hours from the following: (Optional) Cybersecurity Concentration Requirements: 15 Hours
The optional concentration in Cybersecurity within computer science will cover fundamental principles of cybersecurity, including network, systems and data security, cryptography, secure coding practices, and ethical topics. Students will learn to identify security vulnerabilities, develop strategies to protect systems and data, and understand the legal and ethical implications of cybersecurity. It complements the core computer science curriculum by providing specialized knowledge and skills in an increasingly important and rapidly evolving field. Students will engage in internships, projects, and cybersecurity competitions to gain real-world experience and build a professional network within the cybersecurity community. Minor Requirements: 18 Hours
General Electives: 19-25 Hours (minimum)
Total Required for the Program: 128 Hours
Restrictions: A grade of C or better in a prerequisite course is necessary in order for the prerequisite to have been satisfied. |
