School Social Work Minor

This minor equips students with the knowledge base relevant to social workers and other helping professionals who practice in educational settings. This includes knowledge relative to working with families within the context of the educational system, an understanding of the policies and practices related to public education, and awareness of the impact of trauma and the importance of trauma-informed responses. Further, completion of this minor and completion of a field placement in an educational setting (for social work majors), will allow the student to pursue licensure as a school social worker in the state of Tennessee. This minor is open to students of all majors.

**Students will select one additional course with a SWK or EDU prefix, in consultation with their advisor, in accordance with their future career plans.
