The public relations major is designed for aspiring communication professionals who will be able to lead an organization or brand’s strategic communication efforts to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with its internal and external publics and who will make the world a better place through civil discourse and social responsibility. The practice of public relations takes different forms depending on the industry, organization, and publics. Some of the most common practices include employee relations, customer relations, media relations, community relations, government relations, investor relations, etc. Students are prepared to think strategically, solve problems creatively and communicate purposefully using face-to-face and mediated communication channels.

BELL Core Requirements: 53 Hours (minimum)
Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core or as General Electives.
Major Requirements: 36 Hours
Core Requirements: 24 Hours
Directed Electives: 12 Hours
