This program of study prepares candidates to meet the performance standards of the Secondary Education (6-12) license. Teacher candidates complete a variety of coursework focused on the learning of students in middle school and secondary in a specific content area, such as mathematics, history, English, world languages, or sciences. Through the tailored coursework, teacher candidates acquire content knowledge of the fundamental areas of a specific content area, as well as the fundamentals of teaching required to effectively teach middle and high school while simultaneously preparing students to meet and or exceed the TN State Standards as they strive to become college and career ready.
