This program of study prepares candidates to meet the performance standards of the Elementary Education (K-5) license. Teacher candidates complete a variety of coursework focused on the learning of students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Through the tailored coursework, teacher candidates build their repertoire of strategies and content specific to elementary grades.Emphasis is placed on teaching the basic concepts and skills that lay the foundation for more advanced study in upper grades, as well as focusing on the social and emotional learning of students.
