The History major is designed for students interested in studying and better understanding the human experience over time. The History major prepares students for graduate study in such areas as History, Public History, and Law; and for professions at all levels of education, law, museum, and historic preservation work, among others. The broad reading, writing, and critical and analytical thinking skills students develop through the History major prepare them for a multitude of career paths.

BELL Core Requirements: 53 Hours (minimum)
Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core or as General Electives.
Major Requirements: 33 Hours
HIS 2050 is a prerequisite for all history courses numbered 3000 and above for the history major.
Electives from American History Courses: 6 Hours
Select 2 of the following electives.
Electives from European History Courses: 6 Hours
Select 2 of the following electives.
Electives from World History Courses: 6 Hours
Select 2 of the following electives.
Additional History Electives: 6 Hours
[At least three (3) of the history elective hours must be taken at the 4000-level]
Minor requirements: 18 Hours
General Electives: 24 Hours (minimum)
Total Required for the Program: 128 Hours
