The major in Applied Mathematics connects mathematics and computer science principles to solutions to real-world problems.

BELL Core Requirements: 53 Hours (minimum)
Technical Requirements:
Technical Requirements are courses identified by the program as required courses and will count in the BELL Core or as General Electives.
One of the following two-semester sequences:
Major Tool Courses: 7 Hours
Major Requirements: 31-34 Hours
At least four of the following, including two of the 4000 level choices:
Up to 3 hours can be substituted from MTH 3000, MTH 3050, MTH 3990, and MTH 4990 At least one of the following:
Minor Requirements: 18 Hours
Minor must be chosen from the following list:
- Accounting
- Biology
- Business Administration
- Chemistry
- Computer Science
- Database Management
- Economics
- Entrepreneurship
- Environmental Science
- Finance
- International Business
- Marketing
- Neurobiology
- Physical Sceince
- Physics
- Statistics
- Web Development
General Electives: 10 Hours (minimum)
Total Required for the Program: 128 Hours
Restrictions
- Courses with an asterisk (*) following the title will not count toward either a major or a minor in mathematics.
- French or German is recommended to fulfill language requirements for a B.A. degree in mathematics.
- A grade of C or better in a prerequisite course is necessary in order for the prerequisite to have been satisfied.
- Any deviation from the listed prerequisites must be approved by the Department Chair.
