SWK 3810 Social Welfare Policy

Prerequisites: SWK 2000  

This policy course is designed to familiarize students with U.S. social welfare policy and various social insurance and income maintenance programs. The course traces the historical development of modern social welfare policies and explores the social, political and economic forces that have shaped it. The course emphasizes the persistent social problems of poverty, inequality, racism, and other forms of discrimination in the United States.  This course also introduces students to social policy analysis frameworks.
