BIO 3650 Evolution 3 Hours
Prerequisites: BIO 1160 and BIO 1165 or Permission of Instructor
Evolution is the unifying theory of biology. The concept of evolution integrates and unites biological processes at all levels of biological organization, from molecules to ecosystems and across all living things. Using the lens of evolutionary genetics, this course will cover the concepts of natural selection, adaptation, speciation, population genetics, phylogenetics, and patterns of biological diversity through time and space. Emphasis will be placed on how an evolutionary approach unites concepts across biology and can be applied to solve real-world ecological and medical problems.
