SWK 3820 Social Work Policy Practice

3 Hours

Prerequisites: SWK 3810 . Open to Social Work Majors only.

This course builds on the content learned in SWK 3810  and seeks to enhance and apply students’ policy practice knowledge and skills via a sustained policy analysis in an area of their choosing. Attention is given to the patterns and consequences of discrimination and oppression as they relate to economic, political, and social welfare systems. The processes of analyzing policy, as well as advocating for, and implementing, policies and programs through the lens of social work values and ethics are central to the work of the course. Students present their analysis at the Belmont University Research Symposium.
