ETM 2350 Technology and Trends in Media and Entertainment

Prerequisites: MDS 1450  or ETM 1500 

This course examines the context and significance of media & entertainment technologies in the contemporary society. It offers an overview of the industrial and business dimensions of these technologies; surveys their historical development, uses, and effects; and addresses some of the most significant social issues and conflicts they raise. The course draws on social technology studies and communication studies to explore the complex relationships between media & entertainment technologies and society. We pay special attention to contemporary trends, such as artificial intelligence, block chain, and platforms. Course formerly listed as CEI 2350.
