EDU 4250 Science for the Elementary School

3 Hours

This course emphasizes the examination, design, and evaluation of experiences for teaching science for elementary school. Looking though lenses of phenomena driven instruction, guided inquiry, and design thinking, students will explore, analyze, and reflect on pedagogical methods, such as lab-based activities, case studies, and videos.  Students will use their knowledge of science, standards, and pedagogy to create a database of digital science lessons that could be used in elementary classroom communities.  This video portfolio will highlight the development and use of demonstrations and hands-on activities in a virtual platform.   (Approximately 20 practicum hours required, which may be within class time.)
