CTM 5005 Foundations of School Counseling


3 Hours

This course is an overview of the practice and underpinnings of school counseling.  The purpose o the course is to orient students to the field of counseling, sh cool culture, professional associate ions, licensure, and certification.  The course prepares students to implement comprehensive school counseling programs and teach strategies to assist/advocate for K-12 students.  The course will explore the roots of the field of counseling and the 8 CACREP areas, look at the efficacy and the use of data to improve school counseling programs, and determine the roles of the school counselor with regard to best practices, theories, and current issues in the field.
