EDU 6580 Introduction to English Learners

This course is an introduction to English learners of diverse language and cultural backgrounds. This course focuses on an understanding of the needs of linguistically diverse learners and the strategies to promote the language and literacy development of all students. Students in this course will apply processes of second language acquisition, learning, development, and individual, cognitive, and social factors that influence second language learning by conducting research about best instructional practices to support English learners as well create a change initiative to collaboratively communicate these research-based practices to other educators.
