Mission:

Watkins College of Art utilizes the power of creative and critical thinking to educate purpose-driven artists and designers with global historical perspectives and an entrepreneurial mindset to be productive citizens of their communities.

Admission Requirements:

In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission to the university, students desiring to obtain a BFA degree from the Watkins College of Art are required to submit a portfolio of work that best illustrates their abilities. The images of the student’s work will be submitted through an online portal. Students will receive the link for submission after applying to the university and selecting one of the Watkins College of Art BFA degrees. Additional information about the application process can be found on the Watkins College of Art website at https://www.belmont.edu/watkins.

A portfolio may include painting, drawing, digital media, mixed media, photography, printmaking, and/or sculpture. All portfolios must be accompanied by an essay and corresponding inventory, which lists the title, date completed, size, and media of each.

Students are not required to submit a portfolio for BA degrees from the Watkins College of Art but may do so to be considered for scholarships.

Scholarships and Awards:

Created by the merger between Belmont University and the independent Watkins College of Art, the Watkins College of Art Scholarship Endowment is used exclusively to provide need- and merit-based scholarships for incoming freshman or transfer students studying within the Watkins College of Art at Belmont University.

Additional scholarship and award opportunities can be found at https://www.belmont.edu/watkins/scholarships/index.html.
